2nd Samuel 14:14, “For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.”
I was listening to a life-changing sermon by Pastor Danny Castle today and
jotted down some notes for your edification. Amen! I've also added some of
my own comments.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Yesterday is a cancelled check, but tomorrow is a promissory note. There needs to be a place in life when we start all over and try to get it right. I'm going to start all over. Everybody would do things differently if they could relive their life. There are some things that we should change if we could redo life.
- We Shouldn't Sin As Much. Once you commit a
deed, it's done. Once you say a word, it's said. Once you go to a place,
you've been there. Each moment is a meeting place between two
eternities. You can't measure it. Each moment is a meeting place between
two eternities. Benjamin Franklin wisely said, “Be at war with your
vices, at peace with your neighbours, and let every new year find you a
new man.”
- We Shouldn't Say As Much. Whoever
said sticks and stones may hurt my bones, but words can never hurt me
didn't know what they were talking about. God hates gossip. Proverbs
29:20, “Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope
of a fool than of him.” Are you hasty in your words? Gossipers are
like a vacuum cleaner, picking up dirt here and dirt there. A good rule
is that when you want to say something about someone to count to 10 and
then don't say it. Learn to physically place your hand over your mouth
when tempted to speak hastily.
- We Shouldn't Sit As Much. Most of us are time wasters. We will be held accountable by God for every word we speak, how we use every second, every thought we keep, how we spend every penny, et cetera. Time is short and we have no guarantee of tomorrow. We we're born with nothing and we'll die with nothing. You'd be surprised how much more you could accomplish for God if you'd schedule your time. If you read 10 chapters a day, you can read the entire Bible through 3 times in just one year. If you don't like reading, then you can listen to the Bible in just 75 hours. The entire Bible! I only listen to Alexander Scourby reading the King James Bible.
That's some good advice for all of us. May we all SIN less, SAY less and SIT less for the duration of our lives, that we may be faithful to the precious Lord Jesus Christ who paid for our sins with His own redeeming blood! Thank you Jesus!!!
