Colossians 4:2-12, Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving ...Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
PRAYER is one of the most taken for granted, misunderstood, abused and
avoided areas of the Christian life. Very few
people truly understand how prayer works. The biggest mistake that many
people make is to focus on the prayer itself, instead of focusing on an
omnipotent and caring God.I am tired of hearing heathens talk about prayer as a good therapy, or contemplative prayer, which is nothing less than new age mumbo-jumbo.
Prayer works because God is real. I haven't met an honest Christian yet, who 100% of the time got their prayers answered. In fact, MOST, of our prayers don't get answers. We could be asking amiss to consume it upon our own lusts as the Bible teaches, but I think this is not the case most of the time when prayers go unanswered.
Jesus tells an intriguing story in Luke 18:1-8 about a video who kept bugging a judge to avenge her. The Bible calls him the "unjust judge," because he didn't care about the widow. Like most judges in the world today, what they care most about is getting people's money. The U.S. court system is all about transferring your wealth into their pockets. Justice in America means JUST US! Just them!!!
In Luke 18, Jesus told this story of the unjust judge and the widow, to teach us to continue praying even when it seems like God is not answering. The reason why is because God LOVES faith (Hebrews 11:6). We cannot please God without faith. Faith is the key which unlocks Heaven's riches, by God's grace. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do!
