Visitor says, "I am turning from all my sin but still I am abandoned."

By David J. Stewart | June 2008

I recently received the following e-mail from a gentleman...

Dear Sir,

I am in utmost despair. I feel I am on my way to Hell and I don't want to go there. I thought I was a Christian all of my life but now I know I was deceived. I trampled the blood of Jesus underfoot. I feel totally abandoned by the Holy Spirit and cannot get Him back. Is it possible to know you are going to Hell and not be able to change it? Oh dear God help me please. I am physically and mentally sick (mental illness in my family). I did think I was saved most of my life but now I realize I was not living for Jesus. I have repented and ask for forgiveness and I am turning from all my sin but still I am abandoned. Oh Jesus please save me. I thank you for any help you may have to offer.

I ask God to bless you

Lord Jesus be with us all

Here is my response to his question...

Hello _____,

Thank you for your e-mail. You mentioned that you have "repented" and tried to forsake all your sins. That's not the way to Heaven. "Repentance" in the Bible is the Greek word "metanoia," which simply means" a change of mind." Repentance is not forsaking one's sinful lifestyle, for that would be self-righteousness. Romans 10:3,4 condemns self-righteousness...

"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

By the way, I only use the King James Bible. All other modern bibles are corrupt!

Repentance is TURNING to Jesus Christ to be forgiven of one's sins. A man need only realize that he is a guilty sinner (Romans 3:19), under the condemnation of God's Holy Law (the Bible), and turn towards God in faith by BELIEVING on Jesus Christ to forgive his sins (Acts 16:31). Please read the following Gospel tract, because it is what you, I, and everyone else needs...

You Need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, i.e., Jesus' righteousness...

Salvation is receiving; not giving. Jesus paid for our sins with His literal, physical, precious blood (1st Peter 1:18,19; Hebrews 9:12; 1st John 1:7; Revelation 1:5; Revelation 7:14). 2nd Corinthians 5:21 tells us that Jesus, Who knew no sin, became as sin; that we who knew no righteousness, could be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again for our justification. Salvation is a "free gift" (Romans 5:15).

The only sin one needs to forsake to be saved is the sin of UNBELIEF, for it is the only sin which can keep a person out of Heaven. John 5:24 states,

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

The way to Heaven is to come as a guilty sinner and BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ as one's Savior. Abraham was saved in Genesis 15:6 by believing upon the Lord, and it was counted to him for righteousness...

"And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness."

This is the way to Heaven... through Jesus' righteousness, which is available only because of the blood He shed that washes our sins away. Acts 4:10-12 clearly states that there is salvation is NO other name except the precious name of Jesus. We are the sinners, and Jesus is the Savior. If we place our trust in the Lord to forgive our sins and save us, then we will be saved. I have written a book titled SALVATION, that you may find helpful as well...
