Man asks, "Am I not filled with the Spirit because I'm afraid to witness?"

By David J,. Stewart

A gentleman recently wrote to me and asked:

"I received Jesus Christ in my life as Savior and Lord and quit from RC Church. But I am still in fear phobia and coward to say about words of God to others with a strong approach—why? I am not filled of holy spirit?"

Here is my Biblical reply the man:

Hello _______

Just because a person is timid or shy doesn't mean they're not filled with the Holy Spirit.  Everybody is different.  Some people are naturally outgoing and bold, others are reserved and shy.  There are all types of different people within the Body of Christ.  It is important that we don't expect everyone to be an aggressive soul winner.  Some people may feel comfortable preaching the Gospel on a busy street corner; but others may choose to purchase a billboard and share the Gospel message that way.  The important thing is that every believer do what they can, with the resources and talents which God has given them, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

There are many opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost.  I bought a carton of eggs some time ago, and noticed Romans 10:13 printed inside the cover... "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  When I ordered my last batch of checks from the bank, I had them print part of John 3:16 on each check... "For God so loved the world..."  It's just a way of planting seeds in people's hearts, in an effort to bring them to the Lord.  Oftentimes, I enclose a Gospel tract with my electric bill payment, et cetera.  These are just a couple of dozens of things we can do to make a difference for Heaven.

Look at what this Christian man did to share the Gospel.

It is the desire to preach the Gospel to the lost that evidences one's being filled with the Holy Spirit.  Through experience and time, I'm confident that you'll learn to be a better soulwinner and overcome your fears of confronting others concerning the state of their soul.

Here's an excellent soulwinning website...

Here's a free online book by Pastor Jack Hyles on how to become a soulwinner...

In the Book of Acts, we see that the early Christians went door-to-door soulwinning (Acts 20:20).  I believe this is the most effective method of winning souls to Christ.  However, some people feel more comfortable passing out Gospel tracts instead of confronting people directly, which is fine.  The important thing is that every believer become an active soulwinner in trying to win the lost to Jesus Christ through the Gospel message (Romans 1:16; Proverb 11:30).
