Catholics Don't Pray!

Matthew 6:7, “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”

I recently heard a devout Catholic family pray over their dinner. They all gathered around, about 10 of them, and all began to recite the same words, i.e., their so-called prayer. It dawned on me that none of them knows God personally. None of them are saved. They all have plenty of religion; but are completely void of God and truth. So very sad.

Catholics have been taught to always recite a prayer memorized out of a prayer book. They pray the same “prayers” so often that they can recite them forwards and backwards. Tragically, Catholics NEVER pray directly to God from the heart. This is because the words they are reciting are no prayers at all; but rather, religious incantations.

This is evidence against the Catholic religion. If you're Catholic, or attend Catholic services, then you know that what I say is true. I've been in numerous Catholics services. When it's time to pray, everyone stands up and recites the same memorized words. Every parishioner chants the same “prayer,” mumbling like a bunch of robots. It is so religious. They don't even need their prayer book, because they've got all the words memorized. It's religion at it's deadliest.

There is no heartfelt warmth of a genuine prayer to God, just the coldness of a bunch of memorized words. It is stinking false religion. Catholics never pray! They just recite a bunch of vain repetitions and follow the leadership of their priest. The priest doesn't pray either, he just recites a bunch of prewritten words from a so-called “prayer book.”

How would a man's wife feel if every time he expressed his feelings, he took out a book and read some words over and over to her, the same old words again and again, without any heartfelt sincerity? She would be very sad and hurt. The wife certainly would feel very lonely. What kind of husband would only express his devotion from reciting a bunch of dead words over and over? Yet, somehow Catholics think God is pleased by their dead works, by their insincere chants from a piece of paper, by their vain repetitions. No, God is not pleased at all. Is it any wonder why Jesus said in Matthew 15:8...

“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.”

Nothing is more phony than the prayers of Catholics. Search the internet and you'll find all sorts of Catholic prayers, most of them addressed to either Mary or one of their Canonized saints, such as Saint Jude.

Prayer to Saint Jude

From A Catholic Prayer Book

Saint Jude, glorious Apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus: The name of the traitor has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the true Church invokes you universally as the Patron of things despaired of. Pray for me, that finally I may receive the consolations and the succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (here make your request), and that I may bless God with the Elect throughout eternity. Amen.

Saint Jude, Apostle, martyr and relative of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Mary and of Joseph, intercede for us.

Many Catholics have this “prayer” posted to their refrigerator. It is said to be prayed during times of sorrow, loss or need for consolation. Literally, Catholics address the prayer to Saint Jude in Heaven, so they think.

Catholics have been duped into believing that saints in Heaven are able to influence God and help them here on earth. But 1st Timothy 2:5 from the Bible is loud and clear that Jesus Christ is the only “Mediator” between God and men. It is a sin to pray to saints, or to Mary. No one in the Scriptures ever prayed to a saint. All prayers were directed to God alone.

I would encourage you dear reader, to read Dr. Jack Hyles excellent book, EXPLORING PRAYER WITH JACK HYLES. Pastor Hyles teaches on the subject of prayer from a Biblical perspective, making extensive use of the Scriptures.

My purpose in this article is not to be unkind to any Catholics; but rather, to expose the falsehood of false prayer, which Jesus called “vain repetitions” in Matthew 6:7.

It's not just Catholics who are guilty of insincere prayers. Every time a U.S. President prays at a White House breakfast or on national TV, it is read from a piece of paper. This is phony and no prayer at all. God is not moved by one's recital from a piece of paper. God wants us to pray sincerely from a brokenheart over sin, souls and the suffering.
