It
is no secret that SEX SELLS in advertising. Tragically, such
wickedness has corrupted our morals in America, to the extent that many
people no longer see any spiritual harm in pornography, fornication, nudity,
prostitution or immodest attire. Look carefully at the photo to the
right and you'll observe a woman's legs open, and the intercourse act.
Booze, cigarettes and immorality are inseparable.
Joe Camel was advertised between 1987 and 1997
by the R.J. Reynolds cigarette company. I remember seeing full-size
billboards while the advertising was going on. A fellow Christian brother
pointed out the advertisement to me while we were soul-winning one day. I
was stunned at the subliminal filth. Even worse, Walt Disney has used the
same subliminal filth in their
children's movies. Here's the
male organ in the scene up close from the movie, The Little Mermaid. American society has become so filthy
and lewd.
Joe Camel (officially Old Joe) was the
advertising mascot for
Camel cigarettes from late
1987 to July 12, 1997, appearing in magazine
advertisements, billboards, and other print media. Prior
to 1987, the character had appeared in animated
television advertisements.
Joe Camel was
conceived in the 1950s by Billy Coulton, art director in
Long Island working on a T-shirt promotion for the brand
in Europe. The R.J. Reynolds U.S. marketing team,
looking for an idea to promote Camel's 75th anniversary,
re-discovered Joe in the company's archives in the late
1980s. At that time, R.J. Reynolds' staff found that the
Camel brand had a reputation as an "old-man's
cigarette." The staff wanted a new campaign to make the
brand more attractive to contemporary smokers.

Sexual perversion has become the norm in
advertising. Joe Camel is a loser. The latest TV commercial presents
William Shatner (i.e., captain "Kirk" from Star Trek) as a
negotiator, fielding calls from distraught would-be travelers and making
deals for them. In the commercial, he seduces a female hotel clerk
into marking down a room and makes the statement... “Sometimes doing the
wrong thing can feel so right,” as he seductively places his hand over
hers on the computer’s mouse. When she discounts the room by half, he
purrs, “You’re so naughty.” This is so horrible.
No one
should ever joke about sin. It is tragic that America not only spits
in God's face, but mocks God as well. We don't just commit sin, we
name one of our most popular cities SIN CITY! How do you think
God feels about that? Do you think God approves of Las Vegas? Las
Vegas is a hell hole. God is angry with our
nation, but most people are living in denial. Proverb 30:12, “There
is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from
their filthiness.” This describes America. We are
Living A Big Lie in America.
Everything from homosexuality to adultery is
mocked nowadays. Companies hire advertisers to make sexually-perverted
commercials, guaranteed to sell their product. They know that the
carnal nature of mankind is “dirty minded” and prone to evil. Jeremiah
17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who
can know it?” There's no TV show in
America any more evil than Desperate
Housewives. Truly America deserves to be severely judged for
our sins. We are a nation of boozers, smokers and hypocrites.
And to think, people kill their own children by
abortion. Children are a gift from God. Psalm 127:3, “Lo, children are an
heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Abortion
is a selfish act of cruelty, rebellion against God's Word and a social
agenda of global eugenics. The
Planned Parenthood Federation
of America [PPFA] is racist (70% of PPFA clinics are in minority
neighborhoods). The baby has no choice.
America has become a wicked nation. SIN
CITY Las Vegas is nothing less than tempting the hand of God to
judge our nation. Hollywood, Madison Avenue, Wall Street, Broadway are all
serving the Devil. The U.S. has become so sexually degenerate that
homosexuals are actually being issued marriage licenses by several States. I
don't condemn anybody, for the Bible condemns all humanity as guilt sinners
(Romans 3:19). Howbeit, as born-again Christians we should take a firm stand
against defiant sinners who are attempting to corrupt society with
wickedness.
Certainly, of all the evils in America, Cigarette smoking is
not the worst of faults. I would consider cigarette smoking more of a bad
habit than a sin, like drinking booze. However, we know that drunkenness is
a sin (1st Corinthians 6:10). I cannot say that smoking cigarettes is a sin.
Charles Spurgeon, London's mightiest preacher, smoked a cigar regularly.
Howbeit, if God wanted
us to smoke, He would have placed a chimney on top of our head. So many
people have prematurely died from lung cancer because of cigarettes.
Certainly, that is not God's will. James 4:17, “Therefore to him that
knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” I think most
people know that smoking cigarettes is not something good to do. But like I
said, I cannot say it is a sin. Some people do, I don't. I don't smoke and
never have, thankfully. If you know in your heart that God doesn't want you
to smoke, then you shouldn't smoke.
As far as smoking itself, there's nothing more disgusting than cigarettes
to me. If I'm eating in a
restaurant and someone starts smoking, I generally make a fuss. It
depends if I was there first, or them. If they were there first, I say
nothing. But if I was there first, I look for a sign and complain to the
waiter if it says no smoking. Thankfully,
cigarette smoking is being outlawed in restaurants. It's a
filthy habit. Cigarettes produce harmful
carbon monoxide gas, as well as THOUSANDS of other toxic chemicals.
Second-hand smoke is hazardous . . .
Heavy
metals like arsenic, cadmium and lead have been
detected in sidestream cigarette smoke,
demonstrating that these toxic elements can
travel different distances in air flow.
Smoking
cigarettes produces upwards of 4000 chemicals;
many are toxic and around 40 cause cancer. These
compounds remain in the air as environmental
tobacco smoke which is inhaled by other people
in the area. There are two main types of tobacco
smoke: mainstream tobacco smoke that is exhaled
by the smoker and sidestream smoke that comes
from the tip of the burning cigarette.

Humans are strange
creatures. We know something is bad for us,
but we do it anyway. What is wrong with
people? Is it any wonder why 95% of the world
is headed straight into the fires of Hell? Matthew
7:13-14 tells us that most people are on the highway
to Hell in their sins. No one has to go to Hell. It
is our choice (John 6:37).
I
recently heard a Catholic priest say, “We really
don't know who goes to Hell.” Well, he would know
if he read the Bible. 2nd Thessalonians 1:8, “In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and
that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Anyone who doesn't
OBEY THE GOSPEL goes to Hell to be tormented in
flames
forever. Cigarette smoking won't send you
to Hell, but it'll make you smell like you've been
there. The reason why unbelievers go to Hell is
because they reject Jesus as the Christ, the Son of
God.
